The Priority Bike

Forget the £4000 Pinarello you lust after as your daily commuter. Just forget it. For those looking for an affordable, maintenance free commuter bike that's stylish and lightweight look no further. The Priority Bike promises to deliver a great ride and make your commute super stylish in the process.

Dave Weiner started Priority after he found himself continually frustrated with existing bicycles on the market. He found that cheaper bikes needed too much costly maintenance and that all of the technological advancements in cycling had only been implemented in high-end performance bikes. Dave dreamed of a bicycle that was high quality, easy to maintain, and built specifically for recreational cyclists.

Priority had an impressive launch on Kickstarter. Their goal of $30,000 was quickly exceeded in under two and a half hours, the ensuing 30 days saw their campaign reach a staggering total of $550,000 in pledges.

By setting puncture resistant tyres on a rust proof aluminium frame and eschewing the traditional chain and gear system, Priority have simplified the traditional bike design and shaved off excess weight resulting in a virtually maintenance free bike.

At $400 you might question the quality of this bike but fear not, Priority's industry connections allow them to buy from the same high end manufacturers as all of the other major bicycle companies. In addition to this, by cutting out the middle man and selling directly to consumers you're effectively getting an $800 bike for under $400. The priority bike comes in both traditional diamond frame and ladies step-through.

Features include:
  • Lightweight Aluminium Frame – Unlike conventional steel frames, Priority is made from lightweight aluminium to make it easy to carry the bike up and down stairs. The aluminium is also rust-proof, providing you one less thing to worry about if you live near the beach or somewhere with rain or snow.
  • Belt Drive – Priority Bicycles do away with messy chains that ruin clothes. Priority bikes are built with a belt drive usually only found on expensive, high-end performance bikes. In 1984 Harley Davidson replaced their chains with belt drives, too. Why? Chains require lubrication, they rust, and are susceptible to the weather. Belt drives last longer, are more durable, are more quiet, and clean.
  • Three Speeds – Most bikes today have either way too many gears, or are a single speed, neither of which is optimal for recreational riders. Priority bikes feature an internal hub three-gear system. While most of the day you’ll be in gear two, you’ll have the option to gain speed in gear three, or take it easy in gear one.
  • Easy Assembly - Priority bikes assemble in four easy steps that take approximately five minutes. Priority bikes make getting on the road quick and simple.
  • Simple Braking - Remember a foot brake from when you were a kid? You probably would slam back on the foot brake to try and make skid marks. Fast forward to today and the foot brake in the three speed hub is very advanced, bringing you to a quick and safe stop. Pedal forward to go and backwards to stop.
  • Super Comfy Saddle – Riding should be enjoyable, so your seat should never make you feel sore. The saddle is extra soft to make sure you're always comfortable.
  • Upright Seating Position – Sore backs can be a byproduct of biking, but not with Priority. All bikes are designed for upright seating to ensure you feel great during and after a long ride.
  • Puncture Resistant Tires – It’s the little details that make riding Priority easy. They're not saying you’ll never get a flat, but those thorns and glass have to work a lot harder to ruin your ride.
  • Theft Resistant Bolts – Priority know you’ll fall in love with their bike, and they want to do anything they can to keep their bikes with their proud owners. By using bolts instead of quick releases levers, Priority bikes are more difficult for thieves to take apart.
  • Kickstand, Waterbottle cage, and Tire pump - All come standard with Priority.
